This release offers a meticulous recreation of "Orthanc," a pioneering dungeon crawl role-playing game originally developed for the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's PLATO system in the 1970s. The original version was played on a PLATO terminal utilizing a keyboard, with its design inspired by "pedit5," which is documented on Wikipedia. The original hardware featured plasma display panels limited to orange and black, and did not support sound. In this adaptation, gameplay has been adapted for touchscreen interfaces, replacing the original hardware constraints while maintaining the core experience.

Players assume the role of an adventurer seeking to accumulate experience and treasures through combat with various monsters.

While straightforward to begin, Orthanc presents a compelling challenge that encourages continued engagement, demonstrating an enduring appeal that is difficult to set aside.
